CONCERNS for a woman's welfare saw police and ambulance staff close of a street in Worcester.

Police and paramedics were called to a house in Gregory's Mill Street which was closed during the incident this morning (Thursday).

The woman was treated by paramedics before being taken to Worcestershire Royal Hospital.

Eyewitnesses said they saw at least five police officers and an ambulance at the scene.

A spokesperson from West Mercia Police said: "We were called just after 7am this morning over concerns for the welfare of a woman in a property in Gregory’s Mill Street.

"Officers attended to assist the ambulance service with gaining entry to the property."

West Midlands Ambulance Service said a woman was treated by paramedics for a medical emergency before being taken to Worcester Royal Hospital. 

"We were called to a medical emergency at a private address on Gregory’s Mill Street at 7.17am, one ambulance and a paramedic officer attended.

"On arrival we discovered one patient, a woman. Following treatment, she was taken to Worcestershire Royal Hospital for further assessment."

The road closure caused a large build-up of traffic along Droitwich Road towards the traffic lights on Barbourne Road.
