A FUN day in memory of an "amazing" mum who "did anything for anyone" will help to give her son a special place to remember his mum.

Courtney Hemming died in a fatal crash on the A44 in Spetchley on February 22.

Her cousin, Meg Wood, and pub landlord Ryan Maund of The Swan Inn in Barbourne will host a Fun Day on Sunday (May 5) to raise money for her headstone.

Miss Wood said the money will allow Courtney's nine-year-old son to spend as much time as he can with his mother.

"When she entered the room it would light up," said Miss Wood of the 26-year-old.

"She was a really family-oriented person and would help anyone.

"She was an amazing mum, and everything he wanted, he would have.

"It would mean a lot for the family if people came and it would let her little boy spend as much time with his mum as he could.

"Courtney died so young and there is nothing in place to help with funding and she left her little boy behind."

Miss Wood and Mr Maund took six weeks to organise the Fun Day in memory of Courtney, which will include entertainment for all ages.

The event will include face painting, arts and crafts, lucky dips, tombolas, raffles, a bouncy castle, and 14 stalls selling various products.

There will also be a barbecue at the event.

Miss Wood added: "I would also like to just thank everyone who will come and have a stall and those who donated to the tombolas.

"Thank you for the support people have given to the family already."

The Fun Day will be at The Swan Inn in Barbourne and take place between 12pm and 6pm.

Courtney was one of three people who died in the fatal A44 crash in February.

Claire Adkins, 39, and six-year-old Leo Painter, who shared the Ford Mondeo with Courtney also died.

  • Joe-Lewis Tyler, of Grenville Road, Dines Green, has pleaded not guilty to three counts of causing death by dangerous driving.

The 33-year-old also denies three counts of causing death while uninsured, one count of causing serious injury by dangerous driving and one count of taking a motor vehicle without the owner’s consent.

Tyler will now appear in Worcester Crown Court on Tuesday, August 27 for trial by jury.
