This summer glowing fundraisers will take to the streets to raise money for a Worcester hospice.

St Richard's Hospice's 'Let's Glow' will see participants go on an 11 kilometre journey through the city from 10pm on Saturday, June 22.

Each participant will carry a glowing LED baton as they walk the circular route, which starts and ends at County Hall.

Sofia Gunster, events and community fundraising lead at St Richard’s, said: "We can’t wait to see everyone glowing for hospice care again this summer.

"Before setting off, we’ll have glitter painters, entertainment, sweet treats and a great dance-inspired warm-up from Torre Barre.

"Last year’s event was so much fun and such a success, raising £17,639, after costs, for our hospice care."

She added: "We hope to see as many people as possible for a fantastic night of fundraising, helping us continue our care across Worcestershire."

The 11 kilometre walk begins on London Road, moves towards the city centre, then along Bath Road, through St Peter’s towards Whittington, back towards the hospice before finishing at the Hall.

Gary Rogers, director of Spa Decorators Limited, which is sponsoring the charity event, said: "We are honoured to support St Richard’s, which has over the years given unconditional support to family members of our team.

"We are delighted to sponsor Let’s Glow once again as a way for us to share our thanks with St Richard’s for all they do in our community. “We’re really looking forward to Let’s Glow this year, and hope to see lots of people there supporting hospice care."

The hospice offers free, expert care for adults with terminal illnesses, and provides support for their loved ones and carers.

The hospice supports more than 3,100 patients, family members and bereaved people in Worcestershire each year.

This year, it will cost around £12 million to run the hospice, which includes patient care and the necessary support services.

Ticket prices for the Let's Glow event are £20 for adults and £15 for 12 to 17-year-olds.
