A care home in Malvern has been treated to a special an afternoon by chocolate brand Cadbury.

Staff and residents at Barchester’s Elgar Court Care Home were graced with a session filled with nostalgia, as they were joined by Cadbury archivist Sarah Foden and brand manager Connor Gould.

Dating back to the launch of its first shop in Birmingham in 1824, Cadbury has delighted the nation's sweet tooth with its selection of confections and drinking chocolate.

Ms Foden and Mr Gould captivated the Barchester residents as they spoke about Cadbury's success, from its humble beginnings to its upcoming 200th anniversary in 2024.

Photos of old packaging, and memorable ad campaigns from the Cadbury archive in Bournville facilitated a journey back through time.

Mr Gould said: "It is so rewarding to take part in such a special event as this – we just loved entertaining all the residents this afternoon, especially when it got to the quiz – they all had their own special memories of the brand to share, which was so rewarding to hear.

"Thanks to everyone at Barchester who joined us.

"It was wonderful to be able to share our brand story with you all and to hear about what Cadbury means to you."

Adding to the sentiment, Sarah Cadwallader, general manager at Barchester’s Elgar Court Care Home, said: "All of our residents have grown up eating Cadbury chocolate bars, so they were really interested to hear about how the company first came about and how it has evolved over the years."

She continued to express her gratitude towards the chocolate brand stating: "So we were really excited to work with an amazing brand like Cadbury, to bring a wide range of fantastic experiences into our homes for all to share.

"Our residents had the best time remembering how they have enjoyed Cadbury throughout their lives looking at all the old ad campaigns.

"They brought back so many memories, and the memory boxes Cadbury’s gave us to open during the live stream provided more opportunities to share memories and laughter all together."

Elgar Court Care Home is operated by Barchester Healthcare.
