TWO house fires with people trapped inside were reported in just a single night in Worcester.

A large emergency service presence was seen on Brookthorpe Close and Gardeners Close after two houses caught fire.

Five Hereford & Worcester Fire and Rescue Service crews were called to Gardeners Close after a fire in a two-storey semi-detached house, the floor of which was completely destroyed.

It took 12 firefighters to tackle the blaze over several hours, and people were reported trapped inside.

All people were accounted for at both fires.

A spokesperson for HWFR said: "The fire was in a two-storey, semi-detached house, 12 m by 12m, the floor of which was completely destroyed by fire.

"The fire was extinguished by 12 firefighters wearing breathing apparatus and using two hosereel jets and a covering jet.

"A short extension ladder was also deployed. Positive pressure ventilation was also used.

"A neighbouring property was checked for fire spread with a thermal imaging camera. Cutting away and dampening down was carried out with the thermal imaging camera used to check for hot spots.

"There were no casualties."

In Brookthorpe Close, three fire crews were putting out a fire in a second-floor flat which involved an electric scooter.

An ambulance was also in attendance.

A spokesperson for HWFR said: "The fire involved an electric scooter in a second-floor flat.

"The fire was extinguished by two firefighters wearing breathing apparatus and using a hosereel jet. Positive pressure ventilation was also used.

"Gas and electrics were isolated and the block of flats was evacuated by police and fire service.

"All persons were accounted for."
