SUPERMARKET staff made a surprise visit to spread some Christmas cheer to children in hospital.

Steve Guoite, manager of the Morrisons store in Roman Way, Malvern, led the Christmas Eve visit to the Riverbank children’s ward at Worcestershire Royal Hospital.

With a sackful of Santa hats and Christmas presents in tow, staff and children on the ward immediately got into the festive spirit.

“This is our local hospital and it’s nice to be able to give something back for all the work they do here,” said Mr Guoite. “We always try and help our local community and we thought Riverbank would be a great cause.

“It’s not nice being in hospital, especially over Christmas. It was nice to be able to bring some smiles to the ward.”

Joy Powell, play specialist on Riverbank, said: “It’s so nice that Morrisons could come into the ward on Christmas Eve. The children on the ward really love their new santa hats.

“It’s so important that we do everything we can to keep these children happy and entertained over Christmas and this donation is a big help.”
