IT WAS no ordinary trip to the hairdressers for Ella Cain after she pledged to donate her long locks to children's charity Little Princess Trust.

The 11-year-old, from Clarence Road, Malvern, had the drastic cut to take eight inches off her hair at WR15 Hairdressing on Friday.

She has sent the hair to the Hereford-based charity which will transform it into a wig for a child who has lost their hair during cancer treatment.

Kindhearted Ella has also managed to raise £500 which will go towards the costs of making the wigs.

Her mother Beth said: "We weren't expecting anywhere near £500.

"Originally, when I asked her how much she wanted to raise, she said £25 so it has been really amazing to be able to raise so much.

"We were really, really pleased."

Returning to Malvern Parish School on Monday after the Easter holidays, Ella was turning heads in the playground as she surprised her friends with her new hairdo.

Mrs Cain said: "All her friends thinks it looks lovely and Ella is really pleased with it.

"I don't think she was expecting it to be so short but the lady at WR15 did a great job and they were really lovely.

"Afterwards, they gave her a little goody bag with styling products, nail varnish and a hairbrush.

"We are all so proud of her."

Ella's Just Giving page will be running until Saturday, May 3 and to leave a donation log on to www.justgiving.com/Ella-Cain.
