TINY toddlers braved the wet and rainy weather on Saturday to help raise money for vulnerable children's charity Barnardo's.

Wrapped up in their waterproofs nearly 30 children took part in Worcester's own Big Toddle event, which saw them walk round Gheluvelt Park.

They set off around 2pm on Saturday afternoon.

The event was following a space theme but because of the weather most of the outfits were covered with clothing to keep out the water.

One of the organisers, Hollie Packer, was manning the cake stand at the event before launching the toddle.

She said so far they had raised £800 and by the end of the day they were sure the total would be around £1,000 for the whole event.

Organisers said:  "It's in aid of Barnardo's. The Big Toddle events happen across the country but often at zoos, which we don't have here.

"We are hoping to do it next year as well, maybe later in the summer so it's bigger and better and we would hope with better weather.

"We would like to thank everyone who has helped us with the event, especially Matt Croft at the Co-Operative and Lynsey for her face painting. Also Tom Packer from Malvern Cops, who has brought his police car down today in his own time for the children to enjoy."
