TOP Comedian John Bishop will be taking a bow at the Edinburgh Fringe, on behalf of St Richard's Hospice, of Worcester.

Mr Bishop, well known for his charity work, especially for Sport Relief, as well as his quick-fire stand-up routines, will host the "Milking it for Charity" at the festival on Thursday, August 21.

He will be joined on stage by other comedy greats such as Jason Manford, Jason Byrne, Lloyd Langford, Pete Firman and James Acaster.

Mr Bishop won the Best Male Comedy Breakthrough Artist award, at the 2010 British Comedy Awards, and in November, 2013, he hosted the Royal Variety Performance at the London Palladium Theatre, in the presence of the Prince of Wales.

Event promoter, Amy Hopwood, from Upton upon Severn, who works for Phil McIntyre Entertainments, has arranged the Edinburgh Fringe event in memory of her mother Mary Hopwood, who was cared for by the hospice.

Miss Hopwood said; “St Richard’s care of my mother and our family during her illness was fantastic and so I am delighted to be able to organise this event to give something back to the hospice, particularly as this is its 30th Anniversary year. The comedians taking part have been very enthusiastic about helping out and I am sure that the audience will enjoy lots of belly laughs.”

St Richard’s Hospice provides free specialist palliative care for patients living with cancer and other life-threatening illnesses and supports their families. Each year the hospice team supports over 2,500 patients and family members in Worcestershire.
