ST Wulstan's Church, where composer Sir Edward Elgar is buried will be holding its annual bazaar next week to raise funds for maintenance.

The bazaar, at Welland Village Hall on Wednesday, December 3, will a raffle with top prizes including a Christmas hamper worth £75, and a £50 John Lewis voucher.

And among the stalls will be traders such as Jean Brown Knitwear, Black Mountain Smokery, Phoenix, Green Lids and Casa Hamam. There will also be a home produce stall with over 150 jars of jams and chutneys.

James Sweetman, the co-ordinator, said: "While it is now over ten years since the reroofing was completed, the church is still raising money towards masonry repairs and repointing, and the funds raised at this year’s bazaar will go towards the cost of these works.

"This hugely popular event always provides an excellent opportunity to find interesting presents for friends and relations without spending a fortune.

"We are very grateful to our sponsors and supporters for their generosity of funds and raffle prizes.

The event runs from 11am to 3pmand entry is £1.50 per adult, young children free, including coffee and biscuits.
