CHILDREN milked the experience of being on a working farm when they returned back to their nursery.

Youngsters from Burlish Park nursery in Stourport-upon-Severn visited the farm as part of their topic on farm animals.

Following the trip, the youngsters then had a go at milking their very own cow and making butter to spread on their mid-morning snack.

Nursery teacher Emma Jukes said: "Our children had a wonderful time at the farm and we decided it would be great fun to set up a cow to ‘ milk’ and to see if we could make our own butter.

To start with we poured some double cream into a jam jar and all the children took turns to shake it for a few minutes.

"After about 15 minutes the children were thrilled to see that a solid lump of butter had formed inside the jar.

"They then practised spreading the butter with a knife onto their toast at snack time.

"It tasted delicious."
