YOU can't stop the beat, and you certainly can't stop The Theatre Factory of Worcester from performing the smash hit musical, Hairspray - and who would want to?

In fact, if you can't get enough of the rousing musical comedy, there are four shows this weekend, at the Norbury Theatre, Droitwich.

The feel good show course, of features stomping songs such as ‘You Can’t Stop The Beat’, ‘Welcome To The 60s’, ‘The Nicest Kids in Town’ and many more.

Leanne Stephens, proprietor of The Theatre Factory said: “Hairspray is a big, bold and beautiful musical comedy and this will be the school’s most ambitious production to date”.

Since moving to its own premises at Shrub Hill six months ago, Theatre Factory has attracted nearly fifty new members most of which will be appearing in the show.

Leanne added: “The show will be a huge team effort. The cast will be made up of two teams which will perform alternately. I have two fabulous casts and I am so proud of each and every one of them. The pupil’s talent seems to grow with every production we stage. A tremendous amount of hard work has gone into staging this huge show."

Tracy Turnblad is a big girl with big hair and an even bigger dream: to dance her way onto national TV, and into the heart of teen idol Link Larkin. Tracy’s audition makes her a local star and soon she is using her new-found fame to fight for integration. But can she win equality – and Link’s heart – without denting her ‘do?

Heading each team, by playing Tracy Turnblad in turn, will be Olivia Sproule and Lottie Beck Johnson.

Olivia said “ I am so thrilled to be playing Tracy. My character is so bubbly and upbeat. The show is lively and lots of fun to be part of.”

Hairspray is at The Norbury from Saturday April 22 and Sunday April 23.
