A WOMAN handed out Easter eggs to the homeless over the weekend.

Lydia Repton, of Bransford Road, Worcester, gave chocolate eggs to around 40 homeless people in the city.

The 45-year-old also delivered Easter eggs to St Richard’s Hospice, Acorns Children’s Hospice and Regent Residential Care Home, in School Road, Worcester.

Ms Repton has made it an annual tradition to donate Easter eggs and has done it for the last four years.

“I just ask my friends if they have extra eggs or to buy an extra egg to give to me,” she said.

“I collect them all up on Good Friday and I deliver to various locations. But on Saturday night I feed the homeless and so I give to them too.”

Ms Repton said she was also able to give an egg to every resident at Regent Residential Care Home, in School Road, Worcester.

“The home is at the bottom of my road and I gave them a few eggs and they were so thankful and gracious I wanted every resident to get one,” she said.

“So I collected more and put a plea out and within an hour a lovely lady said she could get 20 more to deliver this morning so each resident got one. All 64 of them.”

Ms Repton added that some of the homeless people hugged her after she gave them an Easter egg.

She has thanked City Church Worcester, in Barbourne Terrace, Worcester, and her friends and family for supporting the appeal.
