Malvern dog walker in charity trek for canine cash raiser
8:00am Saturday 7th September 2013 in News
A PROFESSIONAL dog walker will be taking some of her canine chums out for walkies to raise money for charity.
Sally Dixon, of Fruitlands, Malvern Wells, plans to take 30 dogs out tomorrow and hopes people will sponsor her to raise money for Malvern Special Families, which provides fun and social opportunities for children and young people with disabilities.
Mrs Dixon, aged 37, wants to support the charity because of the help it gives her with son Rhys, aged seven, who has special needs.
She said: “Malvern Special Families does a fantastic job and they need all the support they can get.
They are Malvern mayor Julian Roskams’ charity of the year, but I felt I wanted to do my bit as well.”
Mrs Dixon became a dog walker after giving up her office job to look after Rhys.
She’s certainly qualified for dog walking, with a degree in zoology, experience as a veterinary nurse for more than four years and a postgraduate diploma in companion animal behavioural counselling.
She said: “I really love it and it definitely seems to be taking off. I’m looking forward to Saturday.
“I won’t be taking them all out at the same time, but in batches throughout the day.”
She has already been promised almost £500 in sponsorship and anyone who wants to help should visit justgiving.com/sallydixon.
