A LORRY carrying flammable fluid caught fire between Junctions 7 and 8 on the M5.

The driver of the HGV pulled to the side of the motorway and called the fire service when he realised it has caught fire.

Hereford and Worcester Fire and Rescue Service were called at 5.15pm and arrived to find the plastic surround in the engine had caught alight.

Firefighters are still on the scene cooling the vehicle down as with the type of fluid being transported it was in danger of exploding.

One lane has been closed on the motorway but it has pulled over to be dealt with at a safe distance from other drivers with the fire contained to the inside.
