YOUNGSTERS can make a song and dance of a returning interactive training workshop.

Worcester Operatic and Dramatic Society Youth Section launches its eighth consecutive acadmey programme, known as WODAC, at St Mary's Hall, Northfield Street, Worcestre, on Saturday.

The workshop runs from 1pm to 3.30pm and offers youngsters aged eight to 18 the chance to gain experience of all aspects of musical theatre, preparing them for an audition to try and get a place in the society's youth section at the annual auditions in September.

It will begin with a mixture of workshops and confidence building activities before working towards a small performance project and a production for parents in July.

The programme runs from January to July on selected Saturday afternoons.

The 70 youngsters in the full youth section will follow last year’s sell-out run of Copacabana with the musical Footloose at the city's Swan Theatre from Tuesday to Saturday, August 5-9.

It will bring classic 80s anthems such as Holding Out For A Hero and Let’s Hear It For the Boy along with the title track to the stage with David Humphries returning as producer.
