A MAN appeared in court at the weeklend charged with the murder of a woman in Hanbury, near Droitwich.

Paramedics found Karen Wild (pictured) at her rented house in the village with serious stab wounds at around 4.30pm on Thursday, January 30, where she was pronounced dead at the scene.

Lian Wild, who villagers believed is the victim's son, was arrested nearby a short time after and taken to Worcester Police Station and was last night charged with murdering the 43-year-old.

The 22-year-old, who is partially sighted, stood in the dock at Worcester Magistrates Court this morning looking disheveled and wearing all black.

Wild did not enter a plea and his defence solicitor Nicola Shaw told the court that she had concerns of his fitness to plead and stand trial.

Kierhan Cunningham, prosecuting, asked for the case to be sent to crown court and reminded Chairman of the Magistrates, Mrs M Stephens, that bail could not be granted because of the seriousness of the offence.

Wild was remanded in custody to appear before a judge at Worcester Crown Court tomorrow, February 4.
