LONDON Midland train services could be disrupted as supervisors go on strike from 10pm this evening.

Duty train crew managers at Worcester, Birmingham, Bletchley and Crewe will down tools for 48 hours until 10pm on Saturday evening in a row over a proposed shorter working week.

Assistant general secretary with transport workers union TSSA said: "We would like to apologise in advance to passengers who may well find their services delayed and even cancelled but we have been forced to take this action to get management to listen to us seriously.”

He warned a second 48-hour strike would be staged next Thursday if the dispute had not been settled by then.

A spokesman from London Midland said: “We are disappointed that a small number of staff have chosen to take industrial action.

“Our focus is to keep services running for our passengers and we have good contingency plans in place to do this.

“We remain open to talks with TSSA to resolve this issue”.

London Midland runs services between London Euston and Liverpool.
