Event to look into historical manuscript

AN event will look at life in Worcester around the time Henry VIII's father ruled the country.

Edward VI took control of England aged just nine in 1537 and sadly died at 15.

Last year, the Friends of Worcestershire Archives helped buy a document which was sent to Worcester by Edward VI, shortly after succeeding his father.

This is now in the care of the Worcestershire Archive and Archaeology Service, and the Friends have organised an event to look into Worcester at the time and what the document can tell residents about what was planned for the area.

It will be held at Worcester Guildhall on Saturday, March 29 from 9.45am - 4.30pm.

"This is a rare document from the brief reign of Edward VI, who seems to have had his own firm ideas," said Roger Leake, chair of Friends of Worcestershire Archives.

The event costs £20.

Call Mr Leake on 01386 710382 or email r.leake@waitrose.com for more information.

.
Oh really? Edward VI was Henry VIII's son, NOT his father. And Henry died in 1547, not 1537. (It's got the wrong year on Wikipedia - is that where the WN get their information from?) Dear me, 3 out of 10. Must try harder.
