Water works bid to avoid future bursts

WORK to help secure future water supplies will start later this week.

Severn Trent Water is investing £25,000 at their Trimpley water treatment works near Kidderminster in a bid to prevent any future disruption as an old water pipe has become prone to bursting.

To carry out the work, Trimpley Lane - off the A442 near Kidderminster - will be closed for four weeks from Thursday (March 13) and a diversion route will be in place through Low Habberley.

Gareth Mead from Severn Trent Water said: “We want to make sure that our customers continue to receive a reliable water supply. Unfortunately, one of the water pipes from our Trimpley water treatment works has grown old and it’s now prone to bursts.

"To help prevent any problems in the future, we’re investing £25,000 to install a new more reliable water pipe. We’re also removing a booster pumping station which is no longer needed due to other work we’ve been doing on our network.

Mr Mead added: “We need to carry out this important work so that our customers living in and around the area can continue to receive a high quality drinking water supply.

"We’ll do all we can to help minimise disruption and we’d like to ask the local community to bear with until the new pipes are in place – we won’t be there for long, but the benefits will be.”
