Getting ready for the challenges of age
2:21pm Monday 17th March 2014 in News
NO-one likes to admit they're getting older, but we all are, and it's best to be ready for it.
That's why the National Careline returned on Saturday to Worcester's Guildhall, for it's third 55+ and Retirement Roadshow.
The hall was filled with trade stands promoting everything from tax advice to specialist footwear to financial and legal aid, all aimed at the senior citizen.
And Barbara Davies of National Careline said that the show was drawing a lot of attention.
"There are a lot of things that people don't realise about being old, and this show is to tell them that there is plenty of help out there.
"We've got everything from the Prince's Initiative for Mature Enterprise to Motability, to the British Legion, to the Quality Care Commission, which regulates GPs and care homes."
Among the exhibitors was shoe company Brantano, whose marketing co-ordinator Jenni Roberts said: "We offer a service of going into care homes and nursing homes to fit shoes for the residents. Too often people who live in places like that and can't get out are forgotten about."
