A CONSERVATION area covering the historic core of a small village is being reviewed for the first time in nearly 40 years.

The review of Upton Warren, which is located just off the A38 between Wychbold and Bromsgrove, is being carried out by Wychavon District Council and the conservation area was first designated in 1975.

The proposed new boundary includes some additional land considered to contribute to the historic character of the village as well as removing some areas where ownerships and land use patterns have changed over the years.

Comments from the public are being sought on the draft character appraisal and management plan, and the consultation period will run from Monday, March 31 to Monday, May 12.

People are invited to attend a public meeting at Upton Warren Outdoor Centre on Tuesday, April 1 to hear from the council's heritage manager at 6.30pm.

Conservation area designation remains an important planning tool, helping to control new developments and influence their design in areas where they might affect historic places.
