FIREFIGHTERS battled a "serious" blaze at a home in Malvern this afternoon.

Crews from Malvern and Worcester were called to the detached house in St James's Road at about 12.20pm and found a fire in a first floor bedroom.

Incident commander Adrian Thompson said the two-story house was heavily smoke-logged in the fire but no one had been hurt and the residents had got out safely.

The cause of the fire is currently being investigated.
