A WOMAN has been taken to Worcestershire Royal Hospital after she was assaulted in Worcester City Centre.

The 41 year-old is suspected to have been assaulted by a 40 year-old man, who police confirm were seen together before the incident, but their relationship is unknown.

A West Mercia Police spokesman confirmed the incident started on Dolday, near the Bus Station, and escalated to grounds near The Hive Library.

Police were called at 2.17pm this afternoon, and eight officers attended the scene.

The man has been placed in custody after being arrested on suspicion of assault.
