Special screening for film project

Worcester News: Matt Worthington Matt Worthington

A SPECIAL film screening will showcase the creative talents of people using a homeless service.

The work produced by the Creative Group at St Paul's Hostel, Tallow Hill, Worcester, over the last two years is set to be shown at the Guildhall in a night hosted by the Mayor of Worcester, councillor Pat Agar, on Wednesday, April 16.

The group has been running for about three years allowing residents to use their creative talents despite the difficulties of being severely dyslexic and their work has been supported by recent University of Worcester graduate, Matt Worthington, who studied digital film production.

Gerraldine Lowman, a teacher of literacy and numeracy at St Paul’s, said: “Matt has been absolutely amazing in giving our projects support, helping with filming and doing all the editing. I hope it’s also helped him a little and provided him with challenges along the way.

“We certainly wouldn’t have been able to complete any of our projects without him.”

Reuben Irving, digital film production course leader at the university, said: “This is a great example of the kind of active social engagement we encourage among our students.

“Matt has done this work in his own time while also completing a degree and producing a graduation film, which has won prizes and featured in festivals around the world.

"The fact that he is back here supporting the event and sharing his work with the group is testament to his general attitude and commitment.”

The event starts at 6pm.
