A MIRACLE baby born with half a heart has inspired the people of Worcester to give more than £700 to help other sick children have a better chance of life.

Every day is a fight for courageous Noah Freeman, who celebrates his second birthday next month (May) against all the odds as he continues to battle the congenital heart defect tricuspid atresia.

But his fighting spirit has brought out the best in the people of Worcester who have emptied their pockets to fill collection buckets in Tramps and Velvet nightclubs. Customers and staff have donated £715 which will go towards helping other children like Noah at Birmingham Children's Hospital.

Noah's condition leaves him very vulnerable and a common cold could kill him because of his low immune system and even changes in temperature can cause him problems.

Dean Hill, who owns both clubs, allowed the family to put the collection buckets in the clubs and staff even helped out by donating tips, earning the gratitude of Noah's parents, Lee and Sarah Freeman and his big brother, Riley, aged four.

Noah's father Lee Freeman, aged 26, of Dines Green, Worcester, an assistant manager at Tramps, said: "Everyone got behind Noah. I was really surprised how much was raised. We want to help other children like Noah. You don't realise how much they do (at Birmingham Children's Hospital) until you go through something like this. Thank you everyone that helped donate money to Birmingham Children's Hospital."

The cheque was handed over to Birmingham Children's Hospital on Tuesday, April 15 where Mr Freeman said it was gratefully received.

Noah is lucky to be alive after surviving two heart operations. The first resulted in complications including brain damage and kidney failure and seizures and the second led to blood in his lungs and one of his lungs collapsing.

He suffered a respiratory arrest in November 2012 and there have been emergencies where his parents had to rush him to Worcestershire Royal Hospital in Worcester and his dad says his son's health has been 'up and down' ever since.
