A LONG-SERVING chairman of a group helping people in Worcester and the surrounding area suffering from Multiple Sclerosis (MS) has been honoured for his tireless work.
At last month's annual meeting of the Worcester and District branch of the MS Society members thanked former chairman Mike Clarke, who stepped down from his role after five years.
Before his tenure as chairman Mr Clarke had filled a plethora of roles within the branch including secretary, welfare officer and fundraising officer.
A spokesman from the branch said: "Mike was very proactive in lifting the profile of the branch and spent many hours raising awareness of Multiple Sclerosis but was always very modest about his achievements."
MS is a potentially fatal neurological condition which affects about 100,000 people in the UK, mostly between the ages of 20 and 40.
The condition affects roughly three times as many women as men and is incurable, but can be controlled with medication and other treatments.
Anyone with MS, their family or carers can contact the Worcester and District branch of the MS society on 01905 381 597.
