GENEROUS customers and staff at a Worcester hotel raised £500 for the county’s cancer treatment unit.
The Diglis House Hotel in Severn Street recently held a sponsored balloon race for the unit at Worcestershire Royal Hospital, with the winning balloon travelling almost 150 miles to Lincolnshire.
The hotel’s sales and marketing consultant Roy McDonald said were “absolutely delighted” by how much they had raised.
“The department does a marvellous job treating patients and we were keen to do our bit for it,” he said.
“The balloon race was our way of supporting the oncology service.”
A new radiotherapy unit is currently under construction at the hospital and is expected to open at the start of next year.
