A YOUNG and passionate ensemble bring their fresh approach to classical music to a celebration of Worcestershire's most famous son.

The Hepplewhite Piano Trio will give this year's Elgar birthday concert at the Elgar Birthplace Museum, Lower Broadheath, near Worcester, on Friday, May 30.

Their programme will include the Worcestershire premiere of Elgar’s Three Movements for Piano Trio along with music by the ever popular Frank Bridge and the great German composer Salomon Jadossohn.

Museum director Cathy Sloan said: "The manuscripts for two of the movements are held at the Elgar Birthplace Museum, and the manuscripts will be on display at the museum.

"The pieces have been skilfully edited by the composer Paul Adrian Rooke and they have been recorded twice to great acclaim.

"Surprisingly this will be their first performance in Elgar’s home county of Worcestershire, and who better to perform them than the Hepplewhite Trio, given their close connections with the county."

The concert starts at 7.30pm and tickets are £10, including refreshments.
