AS PART of next week’s national Carer’s Week a Worcestershire health body is encouraging people in the county to pledge to support those caring for family members.

NHS South Worcestershire Clinical Commissioning Group has thrown its support behind the Carers Week Quest – an initiative aiming to improve links between communities and reach out to those who may be missing out on support.

The CCG’s chief clinical lead Dr Carl Ellson said it was important to recognise the invaluable work carried out by the UK’s 6.5 million carers.

“An event like Carers Week provides us with an opportunity to celebrate the dedication and devotion carers provide on a daily basis,” he said.

“The Carers Week Quest is an excellent way of showing your support and to help raise awareness of the great work that carers are doing across south Worcestershire.

“As the age of the population increases, many people are taking on the role of carer to family, friends or neighbours.

“They do a vital job and without them our health and social care systems could not function.”

Carers Action Worcester – an umbrella group of organisations supporting carers in the county – will be on hand at a range of locations including The Guildhall, community hospitals in Pershore, Malvern and Evesham and Morrisons in Covercroft Road, Droitwich throughout the week offering help and advice.
