A UNIQUE and quirky theatre has been flushed with success after receiving a wealth of warm reviews.

The Theatre of Small Convenience in Edith Walk, Great Malvern, has been awarded a TripAdvisor Certificate of Excellence 2014 after returning 25 excellent visitor ratings out of 31 reviews.

Situated in an old Victorian gentleman's lavatory, the theatre seems to be a place where mystery and magic brews for the users of the world's largest travel site which offers the chance for millions of travellers to share advice, tips and reviews.

Dennis Neale, who founded the theatre in November 1999, said: "It's quite an accolade and I have not had a certificate for a long time. It's been wonderful that people have helped us. If the shows are not successful the theatre would go."

He added: "We have become a tourist attraction which is a weird thing for a community project to become. I make these surreal shows and it keeps us going."

Mr Neale says he hopes to be able to make some investment in the theatre and its productions after reducing the cost of his insurance this year.

"It could mean I might be able to afford more. I might have some more money for a bit more experimentation."

The Theatre of Small Convenience, which entered the Guinness Book of Records as the smallest theatre in the world in 2002, is currently staging Tempuss within its quaint interior.

Mr Neale says the "slightly surreal" six-minute puppet show with no words is suitable for people aged three to 103 and it runs from 1pm to 5pm every Saturday with shows performed on demand.

It also open from Wednesday to Saturday during the school holidays and at bank holidays.

Entry is £3 for adults and £1 for children.
