THE sun shone down on walkers who stepped up to the challenge of raising awareness of rheumatoid arthritis during The RAmble.

About 100 adults took part in Saturday's ramble at Spetchley Park and Gardens which raised about £1,000 for organisers National Rheumatoid Arthritis Society (NRAS).

Children and dogs also joined in the fun at the beauty spot and everyone wore NRAS t-shirts as they followed one of three trails around the gardens.

The aim of the walk was to challenge the belief that rheumatoid arthritis only affected elderly people after years of wear and tear as well as raise funds for the charity.

Donna Saunders, NRAS Worcester branch co-ordinator, said: "The walk went really well.

"We were so lucky with the weather, it was a beautiful day.

"We were also lucky to get donations for the goody bags from Asda Worcester, Mars and Primafruit Limited.

"Plus, we were very thankful to Spetchley Park and Gardens for allowing us to hold The RAmble in their beautiful grounds."
