A WORCESTER chippy has dished up a generous donation to military charity Help for Heroes after offering a half price day for their customers.

Lowesmoor Fish Bar, owned by Costa Papachristoforo, raised £1,000 by matching every £1 spent by customers in the food shop in Lowesmoor.

Manager Hivan Khoodarahmy added to the total with a further £214 by offering Help for Heroes wristbands and Union Jack lapel badges.

Mr Khoodarahmy said: "The positive response from the customers was quite amazing with all of the wristbands and lapel badges having been sold.

"We are absolutely delighted with the overall total that has been raised in support of such a fine charity."

On Wednesday Ian Baldry, Worcestershire county coordinator for Help for Heroes, visited Lowesmoor Fish Bar to thank them for the support.

The money will go directly in support of the Individual Recovery Plan, as part of the Defence Recovery Programme. This is where custom designed programs are created to meet the needs and aspirations of individual soldiers who due to the extent of their injuries incurred either on active service or during training will no longer be able to remain in the Armed Forces.

The donated money will also support the Battle Back initiative, the Quick Reaction Fund along with the recently established Hidden Wounds psychological support programme.
