THERE was a walk on the waterside for one charity founder and her friends who have raised over £1,400 for disabled children.

Jean Wilson, founder of New Hope, felt so guilty that she did not take part in last year's Free Radio Walk For Kids that she organised her own walk.

Mrs Wilson was joined by the city's MP Robin Walker and the charity's supporters for the walk from Diglis House Hotel, Severn Street, along the canal to St Andrew's Town Hotel, St Andrew's Drive, Droitwich.

They were joined by members of Worcestershire Filipino Community and the group of about 15 enjoyed a leisurely walk along the canal.

Mrs Wilson, from Wells Road, Worcester, said: "So far we have raised £1,400 with monies still to collect.

"We are thrilled with this especially in light of the fact this was my personal challenge after i chickened out of Free Radio's Walk For Kids last year.

"We had a lovely day and it really felt good bringing people together."
