A MEMORIAL sword was presented to a member of Malvern College's air cadets who has achieved a great deal.
Rupert Harris has been a member of Malvern Colleges CCF (RAF) since 2010 and received the prestigious Sir John Thomson Memorial Sword, at the Air Squadron Day.
Lady Thomson presented Mr Harris with the trophy, which commemorates her late husband Air Chief Marshal Sir John Thomson, at Shuttleworth Old Warden Aerodrome in Bedfordshire.
It is awarded to Best CCF (RAF) Cadet and Mr Harris was one of only ten people to be called for interview following nominations in November.
He has attended camps across the world and completed his Gliding scholarship in Vikings at RAF Syerston in April 2013.
Mr Harris gained a flying scholarship at Tayside Aviation in September 2013 and is a keen pilot having led the college’s RAF Section in the Air Squadron Trophy for two years in succession and winning the Leadership Trophy in 2012.
He is the former head of school and left the college this summer to take a gap year working with the children’s charity the Rainbow Trust.
Afterwards, he hopes to study construction management and engineering at university.
