A FREE story-telling day at the Elgar Birthplace Museum took young visitors on "a magic carpet ride" through the mind of a musical genius.

The inspiring event, on Wednesday, August 6, was inspired by the fairies that featured as themes in the composer's "Wand of Youth" suites, and it involved storyteller, Sue Andrews.

Rachael Foy, senior museum assistant said: "We were very excited to welcome Sue to the museum for a day.

"Stories are magical, wonderful things and it was brilliant to hear about Elgar's travels and to see the themes from his music translated into stories for children to enjoy and discover."
