WITNESSES are being sought following an unprovoked attack in Abbey Park, Evesham.

The assault happened at about 3.30am on Sunday, August 3, close to the Rowing Club in Evesham.

A 20-year-old man was walking along the river with a friend when he spotted a group of men, who of which approached him and struck him.

The victim was left with serious facial injuries.

West Mercia Police are now appealing for witnesses to the attack.

PC Emma Burrows said: "We believe this was an unprovoked attack resulting in serious injuries. The victim and his friend were unable to give accurate descriptions of the men in the group, so we would urge anyone who may have witnessed this or could provide any information to support our investigation to come forward."
