PEOPLE can roll up their sleeves and join in a community litter pick at Bilford Road Recycling Centre on Thursday at 10am.

Green councillors Matthew Jenkins and Neil Laurenson as well as activist Neal Murphy will be holding the litter 10am.

Cllr Laurenson said: "Litter on the periphery of the recycling centre is visible along Bilford Road and Wordsworth Avenue.

"We’re grateful to Severn Waste for granting us access to the site and to Worcester City Council for providing equipment and bags."

Anyone who would like help tidying up other parts of St Stephen ward can call Cllr Laurenson on 07805 871163 or email Neil.Laurenson@Worcestercity.net.

I will bet you a pound to penny he is. This is the same trick they do every year. Last year it was Louis Stephen in battenhall. The year before it was Matthew Jenkins in St Stephens and the year before that Neil Laurensen.

Such cynicism...But to be expected, I guess. I have wanted to do a litter pick here for a while - since before I even knew Neal. You can help out if you like.

I bet you're chuffed to bits about the trick you helped pull in lumbering the good burghers of Worcesters with a mayor that's an utter embarrassment. Still anything to gain power and protect ones own position eh Marc!

Obviously you see litter picking on your own patch as something that's beneath you?

Well is Neal Murphy the green candidate or not Neil? Maybe the Tory and Labour Candidates and the Lib Dems (if they can find a candidate) should join them.

Neal Murphy is indeed going to stand for the Greens. He has introduced himself to residents in person and in a letter. He lives in the ward and approached us about getting involved. If he is to convince people that he is worth their vote, then he will have to get involved in local activity such as litter picks.

Lets hope that if Neil undertakes one around the Guildhall when there is a Full Council Meeting on he makes sure he has plenty of sacks available.
He would do this City a huge favour, and then he could perhaps continue to County Hall again at a Full Council meeting.

I have no problem in candidates putting themselves about before an election and even less of one if they are benefiting the community at the same time. I am less impressed with those who get themselves elected and then become almost anonymous un til the next election.
