It has been a busy two weeks for the Three Pears Scooter Club.

The scooter club scooted an 80 mile trip to Weston-Super-Mare raising £1,000 for Headway Worcestershire.

Scooter club member Steve Descher said: “A convoy of nearly 20 vintage scooters travelling for 80 miles in 27 degrees wearing piglet outfits is not your average Saturday sight.

"But we believe in Headway’s cause as one of our members suffered a serious head injury - it’s giving a bit of support to something worthwhile whilst pursuing our passion for scooters.

"The fact we managed to raise so much money at the same time is great.”

But the fund-raising did not stop there - the club also held the fourth annual Big Bash in Broughton Hacket for the Midlands Air Ambulance.

Despite the dismal forecast, the event was packed with hundreds of people who flocked to see the live bands, DJs, karaoke, bars, food tents, a bucking bronco, a bouncy castle, water zorbing and even a fishing contest. Tracie Finnegan, deputy director for Headway Worcestershire, said: “We are truly grateful for the support that the Three Pears Scooter Club has given to Headway and its service users.

"It’s tough for charities at the moment and without support like this we could not offer the range of services we do to brain injured people and their families and carers.

"Both the events were terrifically successful and we had so much fun at the Big Bash – we’ll definitely be going next year.”
