THE stages of one of Worcestershire's biggest music festivals are all set up and ready to be rocked by dozens of acts this Bank Holiday weekend.

Thousands of people are expected to descend onto Fish Meadow in Upton-Upon-Seven tomorrow as the Sunshine Festival opens its gates for three days of music, across three stages.

Topping the bill on Friday will be The Farm on the main stage, Dr and the Medics on the second stage, and The GT's on the newly-added Variety Village stage.

Highlights for Saturday include Boney M storming the main stage, RIFF/RAFF on stage two, and Timmy Mallet, while Sunday will be closed by Big Country, The Cuginis and Steve Descher and Stevie Dancer.

The event has grown from previous years, when it was known simply as Upton Music Festival, being rebranded as Sunshine Festival.

Festival spokesman, Steve High, said: "Everybody needs something positive in their lives so to say that it's Sunshine it's nice and it's great.

"People have been laughing about the weather forecast but that doesn't bother us - we've got enough undercover areas and festival-goers are used to the variety of weather."

The festival has previously had a variety area, but 2014 sees the addition of the variety village where the likes of Keith Chegwin and Lachlan Werner will entertain up to 800 seated people.

Mr High said: "We had a small variety stage last year and we couldn't get enough people in it so we have got the new village this year.

"We've also got two new undercover areas so should there be showers more people can get under."

The show will reach a spectacular finale on Sunday, August 24, with a fireworks extravaganza.

The festival will also be supporting the Worcestershire Acute Hospital NHS Trust's neonatal unit with the sale of the Sunshine Times, this year's festival programme.

Although the festival starts today, tickets are still available to purchase from Box Office. Full weekend adult tickets cost £75 with camping or £60 without, Friday day tickets cost £25, Saturday's cost £55 and Sunday's £40. One child under the age of 12 goes free with every adult ticket purchased.
