CONCERNS have been raised over the amount of time people making complaints to the organisation running Worcestershire’s three major hospitals have been waiting for a response.

A report presented at a meeting of the board of Worcestershire Acute Hospitals NHS Trust, which runs Worcestershire Royal Hospital, Redditch’s Alexandra Hospital and Kidderminster Hospital, on Wednesday, September 3 showed the amount of complaints the organisation was currently dealing with increased in July to 61.

The amount of complaints – the majority of which are around communication, the attitude of staff, delays in treatment and the level of care – which were responded to within the required 25-day period also fell to 51 per cent.

The trust’s chief nursing officer Lindsey Webb pledged to bring the figures back down again as soon as possible.

“While we have seen an improvement in terms of complaints coming in clearly there is still an issue with the service,” she said.
