A DOUBLE-DECKER bus carrying 45 students and teachers has collided with a car in Worcester.

One teenager on the bus was taken to Worcestershire Royal Hospital with shoulder pains while four other passengers were assessed by paramedics.

A casualty from the car was immobilised using a neck collar and spinal board before being taken to hospital and a second person suffered minor injuries.

The incident took place in London Road at about 1.30pm today.

Two ambulances, a paramedic in a rapid response vehicle and two paramedic officers attended the scene.

A West Midlands Ambulance Service spokesman said: “Crews arrived to find a car in collision with a double-decker bus carrying 45 students and teachers.

“Two people from the car were taken to Worcestershire Royal Hospital. One patient received minor injuries and the second was immobilised with the use of a neck collar and spinal board before being taken to hospital.

“A teenager travelling on the bus was treated for shoulder pain and she was taken to Worcestershire Royal Hospital as a precautionary measure.

“In total five further passengers were assessed on the bus. They were all later released to continue their journey.”

Liza Nicol posted a photograph on Facebook of the emergency services at the scene, adding the comment "chaos on London Road".

She added: "I didn't see the accident happen, I just walked past at about 2.25pm.

"There were queues in both directions but the bus and car were pulled to the side so one lane of traffic was able to pass them.

"The passengers were still on the bus but there were a lot of people on the pavement watching."
