NEIGHBOURS have spoken of their shock after the bodies of a man and woman were found in a Warndon Villages home.

Police are treating the death of the woman, believed to be in her 20s, as suspicious - but the death of the man has been classed as non-suspicious.

The bodies were discovered in Debdale Avenue on Tuesday evening (October 6) and police are not looking for anyone else.

Stephanie Tarplee, who lives next door to the property, said: “I can’t believe what has happened. I was coming home from my holiday when my son called and told me what happened in the house next door.

“I am in shock and am totally numb. I've lived here for 18 years and have never known anything like this round here. It's so quiet.

“I panicked but police reassured me that it was a self-contained incident.

“I’ve said hello to the young couple, who have only lived there for about three weeks, a few times and they seemed nice. But I didn’t really know them.

“You don’t expect it to happen next door to you.”

Neighbour Michelle Stockall. who has lived in Debdale Avenue for 13 years, added: “I am shocked.

“It is such a quiet area and stuff like this always seems to happen somewhere else.

“I got home at about 5.15pm last night from work and saw the police and paramedics outside the house.”

She added that she doesn’t know the couple personally but believes they moved into the road quite recently.

Gemma Normoyle lives over the road from the house with her two children and partner.

She said: "It's tragic. I was at home on Tuesday afternoon when I heard someone sounding very distraught outside. I went to have a look but we didn't know what was going on until we saw it on the news. It's very, very sad.

"We were worried for our safety at first, but then the police reassured us that it was a self-contained incident. There have been police there all night, it's been good to see such a high police presence. The children have been asking questions but we just tell them the police are out there doing their jobs, they are too young to be told the details. My heart just goes out to the families."

Anthony Stokes, who has lived in the road for 20 years, said: "My wife came home at about 5.30pm and asked me why there were lots of police cars parked a few houses down. I hadn't even heard them, so I didn't know what was going on. Not long after we saw two young men and a young woman near the house, and the woman was hysterical. The men looked distraught, so we knew something very bad had happened.

"Police told us what had happened, it's awful."
