A SHOCKED father has stopped his children going to an Upton park after they were approached by a man, who stroked his three-year-old daughter's face.

Police are investigating two separate incidents of men approaching children in the park off Backfields Lane, which have left parents upset.

The incidents occurred on Wednesday, August 3 at 3pm and on Monday, August 29 at 11am.

A 45-year-old father, from Upton, was angry after finding out that his children were approached in Upton skate park on August 29.

“My lad came up and said this guy’s asking us questions. He was asking them for their names, ages and the schools they went to,” he said.

“A few days later my youngest son said the man had stroked the face of my three-year-old daughter.

“She’s ever so young and didn’t know what was going on but it creeped her out. He told the kids he lived locally.

“We haven’t been to any park since. It put me off. Even with my eldest I won’t let him down there.

“My lad’s 12 years old and wanted to go down to the park on his own last weekend, I said no. He finds it frustrating.”

The father was concerned about how quickly the man cornered his children and said he did not recognise the man.

The children were out of their father’s line of sight when the man approached them at the park off of Backfields Lane.

“There’s usually lots of kids and parents but on that one occasion I was the only parent in the park,” he said.

“Lots of kids go to the park on their own.”

The man in the August 3 incident was described as in his 50s or 60s, of a large build, six-feet tall, with short brown/greying hair.

At the time of the incident he was wearing a red, button up t-shirt, baggy jeans and glasses and was carrying a large bunch of keys.

The man in the August 29 incident was described as a white male aged between 50 and 60 years old, of a heavy build, between five-feet and 11 inches and six-ft tall.

He was reportedly wearing casual clothes at the time of the incident consisting of jeans, a t-shirt and trainers.

Witnesses call the police on 101 and quote the reference number 466S 030816 for the August 3 incident and 273S 300816 for the August 29 incident.
