POLICE are still searching for two burglars who forced their way into a house wielding a crowbar and claw hammer.

The men broke in to the Gillam Street house on Friday evening and stole £600, a gold chain and gold saddle ring.

The householder was chased down the hallway by the raiders, before barricading himself in the living room, while his three children, mother and grandmother were upstairs.

The burglars began hitting the living room door with their weapons, while the dad shouted to his mother to call the police.

The resident - who asked not to be named - said: "My mum was here and my children, they were shouting and crying. I shouted: 'Phone the police, help, help', at the top of my voice. I was trying to scare them [the raiders] off as much as I could by shouting.

"It lasted for about two minutes, but it seemed like a lifetime. I feel like I can't sleep now, I always feel I'm on edge. I just want them brought to their justice now."

West Mercia Police is investigating the aggravated burglary and are appealing for witnesses to come forward. The break-in took place between 8.30pm and 8.50pm on Friday, October 14.

The first raider is described as white man with a pale complexion, aged between 23 and 27 years old, and around 5 feet 9 inches in height. He had styled, light brown facial stubble with a hint of ginger.

He was wearing a cream fleece top, a grey woollen beanie hat and spoke with a local accent.

The second raider is also described as white, of medium build and 5 feet 11 inches in height. He was wearing a balaclava.

Detective Constable Pete Ryland said police are keen to speak to the driver of a Volvo, seen parked in Barker Street between 8.30pm and 8.35pm on the night.
