CHRISTMAS is still many weeks away, but a shop selling festive cards to raise money for charity has opened at the Guildhall.

The Mayor of Worcester Councillor Paul Denham has been to visit the card shop, which is now open until Tuesday, December 20, and met with volunteers.

"The Guildhall Christmas card shop has been very popular for several years and it’s a fantastic way of supporting local and national charities," said Cllr Denham.

"I’d urge Worcester residents to make the shop their first choice for festive cards."

Shoppers can browse a host of colourful Christmas cards, advent calendars, candles, wrapping paper and much more, with the majority of proceeds going to charity.

The Guildhall shop is just one of 300 temporary shops run by Cards for Good Causes around the UK, with another in place at St Richard's House, Droitwich.

The shop is open Monday to Saturday, from 9.30am to 4.30pm, on the ground floor of the Guildhall. It will also open on Sunday, November 27 for the Victorian Christmas Fayre.

At least 70 per cent of all sales will be donated to a range of local and national charities. For more information about the Cards For Good Causes scheme visit cardsforcharity.co.uk
