FAMILIES who went along to a Worcester school at the weekend were in for a big surprise, as a special teddy bears picnic was held.

Youngsters with their family and carers were invited to come along to the event at RGS Springfield, in Brittania Square.

Sam Salisbury, head of early years at the school, said the children had been invited to bring their favourite teddy bears to the event, which was held on Saturday morning.

And teddy bears in all shapes, colours and sizes were brought along, including Paddington and a Care Bear.

Although the weather was a little cold and wet at times organisers were determined for it to go ahead.

“We run activities in all weathers and conditions,” Mrs Salisbury said.

“It does not stop us, as long as we have wellies and the right clothes.

“We like to run these events as they have the social side, it gets the youngsters outdoors, using their imagination, and enjoying themselves.”

A number of activities were organised including a bear hunt, where youngsters were challenged to find numbers hidden around the grounds of the school, an icing biscuit bears activity, as well as the picnic with food and drink for the youngsters, and their families, to enjoy.

The next event for the school will be a mud day, where youngsters will be exploring the forest school with all activities linked to mud.
