SITES across the county will again open their doors free of charge next weekend (Saturday 9 and September 10) as part of Heritage Open Day.

With over 30 events throughout Worcestershire, we've picked some of the ones most worth visiting.

'Museum after Hours'

Worcester Art Gallery and Museum will open its doors 'after hours' for live music, cocktails, guess the object and dress up.

Friday, September 8 (5.30pm-8pm).

'A Civil War Story at The Commandery'

Discover why the Royalist army chose The Commandery as their battle headquarters and how they prepared, while the Parliamentarians made their way over for the final clash of the English Civil War.

Encounter the smells and sounds and plan your strategy on the battlefield in their new exhibition.

Sunday, September 10 (1.30pm-5pm).

'Stinky Tudors at Tudor House Museum'

What made Elizabeth I's teeth rot? How often did Henry VIII bathe? Where was the plumbing?!

Follow the trail of the Stinky Tudors and discover the lives of the people who lived here during Tudor times and just how stinky the city was back then.

Thursday, September 7 (10am-4pm); Saturday, September 9 (10am-4pm); Sunday, September 10 (10am-4pm).

'We Love the Georgians - Family Event at Croome St Mary Magdalene'

All four floors of Croome Court will be open on both days but for all things Georgian visit adjacent St Mary Magdalene to dress, listen to music and play with toys from the era.

Saturday, September 9 (11am-3pm).

'The Infirmary and George Marshall Medical Museum: Guided Tours'

Visitors will be given the opportunity to see former nurses' home Mulberry House and the former Worcester Royal Infirmary.

Saturday, September 9 (11am-3pm; tours at 11am, 1pm and 2pm).

'Worcestershire County Museum, Hartlebury Castle'

Explore 1000 years of history and meet the housekeeper and get hands-on with the collection. On Friday, learn about what the museum look after with a behind the scenes tour.
