WORCESTER is the happiest city in the UK, according to a recent study.

The Faithful City has hit the top of a survey - clearly ahead of other UK cities including London, Manchester, Newcastle, Belfast, Southampton and Liverpool.

The survey of 2,830 Brits was carried out by Provident Personal Credit’s ‘Unbroken Britain’ survey - and Worcester came out on top of the happiness category for the second time in a year.

Residents were asked to rate on a scale of 1 to 10 on how they felt within their community, and Worcester shared the top spot with Wrexham with a rating of 7.83.

Worcester also did well in other categories, coming ninth in the safest city list and third in the friendliest.

Nearby Birmingham only managed 29th out of the 30th in the happiest and friendliest city lists.

Various people have recently praised the city as part of our We're backing Worcester campaign.

MP Robin Walker said there had been a lot of positive developments and good news for Worcester recently, former mayor Roger Knight described the city as a "lovely place to live", while Vince Hopkins, chairman of Worcestershire Ambassadors, said that it was a "pleasure and privilege" to live in Worcester.
