Worcester Twinning Association

Last weekend Worcester Twinning Association welcomed visitors from the town of Vernon in Northern France to mark the 10th Anniversary of their Friendship Pact, which was signed in 2006 by the then Chairman Nevill Swanson. The delegation from Vernon included three Deputy Mayors, a Councillor and members of their Twinning Association, who stayed with host families. Rosemary Campbell, the Association's Liaison Officer for Vernon organised a varied and interesting programme of events, which culminated in a riverboat trip on Monday evening and an opportunity for everyone to see the wonderful firework display from South Quay, signalling the end of the Worcester Festival.

Malvern Special Families Hills Walk

An enthusiastic group of 12 walked the length of the Malvern Hills last Sunday to increase awareness of Malvern Special Families and to raise funds for the provision of care this charity provides for children with disabilities. The walkers were easily identified on the Hills by the blue and yellow balloons they carried. The weather was perfect for walking and the challenge of ascending all the peaks was enjoyed by all.

Malvern Concert Club

Club members met at St Edmund’s Hall last month to hold the Malvern Concert Club’s Annual General Meeting and to hear a piano recital given by young virtuoso Tyler Hay. The business of the meeting took place first when a new chairman was elected. Joseph Brand had been on the committee for 21 years and had held the position of Chairman for nine of those. Joe’s considerable contribution was acknowledged and he was appointed Vice President of the Club following his retirement. Joe has kindly agreed to continue to write the programme notes for Club concerts, but will step down from his previous responsibility as page turner. John Gregory was elected to the Chair for the forthcoming season and was welcomed in his new role.
